What goes up...

Ready for a laugh?

During the month of May prior to my trip to Japan, I will be visiting friends and family as well as receiving various training. I will be in 7 cities in 3 weeks. I've been traveling for a week now. Five beds in 7 days.

You can imagine I'm pretty exhausted, even though I have enjoyed every minute of seeing beloved friends. Well, two nights ago after a delayed flight and catching up until nearly 1a.m., I finally headed to bed. On this particular night, I was staying in a high rise bed which requires a two-step ladder in order for me to get in. I always read before falling asleep, and this night was no different despite its late hours.

I could barely hold my eyes open, so I decided to get out of bed to turn off the light and go to sleep. Well, with all the traveling, the exhaustion, and so many different beds, I forgot where I was. I swung my leg down to get out, forgetting just how high this bed was and that I literally climbed a ladder up into it. My foot never touched the ground or the ladder before the rest of my body came down with it! Boom! Boom! Boom! I bounced down the two step ladder to the floor!

I remember it in slow motion, trying so hard to stop myself after each step. I sat there on the floor in groggy disbelief for a moment. Did that really just happen? Did I break anything? Did I wake anyone up?

I woke up the next morning and remembered my tumble from the night before. Man, I wish someone had seen it! I must have been a ridiculous sight! I shared this story with my host and we laughed until we were in tears. It's true what they say: what goes up must come down. Hopefully next time it won't be as painful.
